“Eat, Sleep, Work and Repeat” as the famous mantra goes, also states “eat” as the first and foremost step of one’s daily routine. It can be inferred that to carry out the everyday task with utmost productivity, zest, and enthusiasm, it is important that we provide our body with the required nutrients and energy for the same. It is imperative o be careful of what we put inside ourselves to lead a healthy life.
Good food intake is undoubtedly at the core of human existence. However, it is unfortunate that most adulterations, chemicals, and other health deterrents are added to your food without our knowledge. The news channels are riddled with incidents of faulty, counterfeit, and maligned food products being proliferated in the markets for mass consumption. Clean and healthy food enthusiasts have found that a majority of the food particles present in the market are not fit for consumption as the concept of ‘safe consumption’ is often manipulated for elevated bottom lines.
Another point of importance is that when food is outsourced, there is no guarantee of the nutrients present in the food which eventually defeats the whole purpose of food consumption. This issue can be resolved when vegetables and fruits are grown in the backyard of one’s home since they would be aware of the best processes and implement the same. People must be aware and educated about the various nutrients derived from food as well as the raw materials employed for their products which can be facilitated through the in-house production of fruits and vegetables.
Conservation of the environment is a duty that must be diligently carried out by everyone on this planet since the preservation of nature can only be achieved through collective efforts. When food is grown inside one’s house premises, the green cover of the planet increases which helps to curb the rise in global temperatures. Furthermore, the industries which are employed for the packaging, manufacturing, and shipping of the food products cease to exist which in turn reduces the pollution level prevalent in the environment. Deforestation is a serious issue that can be controlled when the spread of such industries gets limited due to the plummeting demand for packeted food because of in-house food production and growth initiatives.
In conclusion, there are many indirect as well as direct advantageous points for the in-house growth of fruits and vegetables which would be conducive to personal and environmental goodness. All our actions have implications and taking up nature-friendly initiatives such as in-house food production will prove to be fruitful in the short as well as in the long term. Every person must try to at least initiate the process of growing food in their backyard and gradually increase the variety of foods grown.
